A few steps from Portsea Pier, Le Capucin has been bringing southwest France to Point Nepean Road since Loïc and Kirsty Duchet opened it after Loïc spent six months back home researching the food he grew up with.Everything is made in house in small batches, using the kitchen’s own stocks: quiches and pies to order, soups through winter, salads through summer, baguettes, croissants and coffee from opening. Loïc’s chicken liver parfait is the one regulars come back for. Prepared meals are sold fresh or frozen, which makes this the sensible first stop if you are stocking a holiday house or putting together a picnic for the beach. The kitchen runs a full made-to-order menu from 8am to 2pm, with the doors open until 3pm, extending to 7am until 4pm over summer.
